Association of Day Surgery Conference 2012 (ADSCON 2012),
the 6th National Conference will be held in Hyderabad,
tentatively on the 20th and 21st of April, 2012. Details
will be posted at a later date.
During the AGM, we had the First
election, Dr. T. Naresh Row, has been elected as
President with Dr. Manish Bansal as Hon. Secretary.
The complete Executive Committee is listed on another page.
ADSCON 2010 was a well organised
and well attended conference. The Theme of the conference
is: ‘One Day Surgery: A New revolution’, was appropriate and
well received. We had several poster presentations from all
over the country and an Oration by Dr. N. K. Deshmukh, who
was critical about the direction of the concept. He through
his eloquent style, suggested ways to improve the
acceptability of Day Surgery. Several senior colleagues,
like Dr. D. D. Gaur, Dr. V. B. Deshmukh, Dr. T. R. Row,
Padma Shri Dr. Ashok Gupta, Dr. M. M. Begani and Dr. M. G.
Nariani, were felicitated. The Chief guest was Dr. Sanjay
Mukherjee, Chairman, Nagpur Improvement Trust, a medico
turned IAS officer, who emphasised on the need and
importance of Day Surgery in our country.
Insurance policies have now taken up the change and included
Day Surgery as reimbursable, doing away with '24 hrs'
admission. It has taken more than 4 years to make this
change. Correspondence is in progress to instruct the
insurance agents in the changes, so that disbursal of claims
can be done easily. We have positive support of the TPA
Association.
The Association was formed in 2003 and the First Founding
Body was incorporated and installed in 2005. Constitution
was drafted for the working of the Association. Now, regular
amendments have been made during the AGM, minutes of those
have been sent periodically to you. Elections are due, rules
have been framed and winds of change are proposed,
implemented and executed. Elections do not mean rejection of
an individual, but, in a true democratic spirit, it allows
you to express yourself. The progress of the Association
should be foremost in our minds. Whoever contests, gets
elected or nominated, let us all continue to be as
supportive for this is our organization, collectively.
There is more to come, we need to push for recognition of a
Day Surgery Centre as a category for registration with the
corporations. Working with NGO,s or hospitals in setting up
Protocols, standards and parameters for Day Surgery, for the
betterment of our patient population. There is much more to
write. But, will end with an appeal to all, please send in
your suggestions. Come forward and make this Association the
largest family of Day Surgery providers. Please find among
the papers, Scientific Program, broachers and details will
follow.
On behalf of the Organising team of ADSCON 2010, we
